Daily TasksDay 1: Overview of project, assign partners, introduce architectural symbols and square footage Day 2: Spend more time talking about square footage and how it relates to appraising houses and apartments. Students will also learn about basic building codes, which they will need to adhere to for their own floor plans. Partners will add ideas to a Google Docs design board, begin thinking of their floor plan designs. Day 3: Guest speakers from Tiny House Building Company will come and talk about tiny house construction. As well as CEO and/or CFO from a local retirement community will participate in a Q&A .
Day 4: Day #1 Design- Students will begin research and start designing their builds. Students will begin developing their models using Floorplancreator.net. Day 5: Day #2 Design- Students will continue with their builds.
Day 6: Each group will share with one other group their ideas and gain new info and feedback that they can add on to their builds.
Day 7: Day #1 of preparing presentations. This day may also be used as a check-in day with math skills.
Day 8: Day #2 of preparing presentations. Day 9: Refining design and presentation practice. Students will also fill out grading rubrics on their partners. Day 10: Presentations and floor plan model submissions |
